Hello everyone and welcome to Chandras Crochet and Craft Planet plus other Miscellaneous Offerings! Why miscellaneous? Because although a lion's share of my posts will be related to my interests, mainly crafty stuff, I'll probably also throw random stuff in there too, whatever I really feel like.
Something I was pondering last night......why is it when you're a kid you never want to go to sleep but when you're an adult that's all you want to do?
Why do they have braille on drive through atms? Why when I went to the ATM yesterday did some LAZY schmuck decide to walk up to the drive through ATM when it was right there at the bank?
Anyways, I've been off work this past week, my beloved grandmother passed away. R.I.P Grandma.....1/17/1918-5/5/2008......
While I was off work I found a WONDERFUL crochet pattern for a slouchy beret. See my head is really big; not only because I'm full of myself ;) but because I do genuinely have a large skull. I'm always searching for a great hat pattern and I've recently gotten into berets. I'll be posting a picture of myself in the beret soon but let me just say this; it was a VERY easy pattern, could be easily altered for size (the pattern called for a K hook, I used an N hook) and I can finish one within just a few hours. The first one I made using Lion Brand Homespun yarn and used an N hook. It turned out GREAT. The second one I made using another bulky weight yarn (when I get home I'll add what brand yarn it was, but this yarn wasn't as "fluffy" as the Homespun yarn can be so I added a row when doing the increase to get the size to turn out the same. I'm also going to try regular acrylic Red Heart yarn as well as a baby weigh sport yarn (I'd like to see if I can get a lighter weight version that could be worn in the summer).....
Here's the link to where I found the pattern, you're more than welcome to try it and if you do I'd LOVE to hear how it came out for you! http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2007/09/pretty_puffs_slouchy_hat_patte.html
Other projects I'm working on are a one square granny square afghan for my father, made in black and bright yellow colors to represent the GREATEST college football team EVER......the Iowa Hawkeyes!!! I've got a great pattern from stitchdiva.com as well for three different lightweight scarves......and a bunch of other stuff. I'll get them all going in separate posts though. Going to sign off now but until the next time........ROCK ON!!!
